As moms, we are always keeping an eye out for things that will benefit our families, keeping them healthy and safe. I was especially looking for something that would boost my family’s immune system and keep us from getting colds all the time. As you know already, kids get sick and they seem to get sick A LOT. At least my kids seemed to get every bug that crossed their path, we were picking up colds at least once a month! I was at the end of my rope trying to keep us all healthy. That was when a friend told me about essential oils helping her kids not get sick as frequently. I was skeptical at first but I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say that using essential oils has helped my family stay healthier. Now, when we do get a cold, it’s less often and shorter in duration than it used to be. If you’re curious about essential oils or don’t know where to start, I give you my top 3 essential oil recommendations for Moms:
- Lavender Oil – This in an oil that induces calm and helps with sleep. It is my number one most used essential oil. I use it diluted in a roller ball on my kid’s feet every night before bed. It has helped them sleep better at night, especially my youngest (who is 2 years old) and had the toughest time learning to sleep all the way through the night. It’s great to have on hand to apply to bug bites to stop the itching as well.
- Thieves Oil – This is a blend of oils that boost the immune system. I use it diluted in a roller ball on the bottoms of my kid’s feet at night during the cold & flu season. It works great for disinfecting, I like to make a spray with it to put on toys and linens to clean them. I am very careful with this one because it has some of the “spicy” oils in it, I dilute it quite a bit.
- Peppermint Oil – This is an oil that is cooling and up lifting. It’s the best for nausea, it works great even if you just smell it when your tummy is upset. I like to roll it diluted on the stomach around the belly button and the upset feeling is gone within about 20 minutes. This is a life saver for when the nasty stomach bug is going around or when you’ve drank one too many glasses of wine. 😉
There are many great oils out there but in my opinion these are essential oils for moms of little ones. If you are looking for something that will keep your family healthy and safe, take the leap and give essential oils a try!
