Hey, Mama, I see you. I see the stress on your shoulders and the tiredness in your eyes. I see the raw emotion you’re feeling chained to your ankle. You don’t know it yet, but I see the tears welling up as you struggle to make it through the day. I am here to tell you something you may not hear often. You are enough.
Hey, Mama, You’re Overwhelmed
The laundry has piled up, the dishes are dirty, the bills need to be paid, groceries bought, house cleaned. I see you and I know you’re feeling overwhelmed. You are enough.
Hey, Mama, You’re Overworked
You run your side hustle, household, parent your kids, support your spouse, and probably work full-time. No matter how many hours you put in each week doing all the things you never feel as if you’re done. Even if you don’t do all of those I see you. You are enough.
Hey, Mama, You’re Feeling Guilty
With all of your hopes, dreams, and aspirations you feel as if you should be doing more or doing it better. The cycle never ends and you don’t know how to get off of the hamster wheel of guilt. You may not feel like a good mother because you’re not spending all of your free time with your kids making crafts and reading books. No matter how much time you put in it never feels like enough, but I see you putting in the time and effort. I see the mother that you are to your kids. I can see how dedicated you are to your spouse. You are enough!
The Pressure To Do More, Make More, Be More
You may not know it but I see the pressure you’re putting on yourself to be more involved. I can also see the pressure that you place upon yourself to make more money and be better at all of the things you are. You are a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend. You are all of those things, but you don’t need to be perfect. You are enough.
You Are Enough
No matter what phase of life you are in right now you need to take time for yourself and just be present. The wheel of life will never end and you cannot possibly be perfect in all aspect of it. Take a moment and reflect on where you are at in this moment and what truly makes you happy. Then ditch everything else until you can get a grasp on what you really want out of this journey. Being a wife is hard enough. Add on being a mother to that mix and you’ve got yourself a nice little cocktail of being pulled in every direction every minute of every day. The thing is I see you in the checkout line, in your car at the red light, in my office signing your tax return. I see you and you don’t even realize it. I see you because I am you. You deserve to know that YOU ARE ENOUGH no matter what that little voice inside your head is telling you. You are enough.
